
About Sun Yat-sen University
Sun Yat-sen University (SYSU), founded by Dr. Sun Yat-sen, has an educational tradition spanning over 100 years. Under the direct supervision of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China, SYSU is a participant university of the “211” and “985” Projects and one of the first universities approved under the national “Double First-Class” Initiative. SYSU has developed into five campuses in the three cities of Guangzhou, Zhuhai, and Shenzhen, and ten affiliated hospitals. Propelled forward by the continuous pursuit of academic innovation, the University is equipped with an international vision, and has dedicated itself to being an institution featuring “comprehensive, innovative, and open”.
The five campuses of SYSU shoulder different responsibilities. For instance, the Guangzhou Campus gives full play to the university’s academic strengths in liberal arts, science, medicine, and other traditionally advantageous academic disciplines. Differently, the Zhuhai Campus is designed to develop the academic disciplines of the deep sea, deep space, deep earth, and deep blue science, so as to play a greater role in helping China to better implement the maritime power strategy, space science strategy, and “Belt and Road” Initiative. When it comes to the Shenzhen Campus, it aims to build an academic development system that integrates medicine with new engineering sciences, facilitates the development of the “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area” and takes SYSU to the front rank of world-class universities.
About the School of Advanced Manufacturing
Founded in February 2021, the School of Advanced Manufacturing (SAM) of Sun Yat-sen University assumes a pivotal role in the Emerging Engineering Education layout of the university’s Shenzhen campus. Firmly keeping its foothold in the national construction of intelligent manufacturing system, the SAM caters to the demands of “Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area” for high-level technological professionals in advanced manufacturing technology and industrial development, fully displays Shenzhen’s innovative cluster advantage in the industry of high-end equipment manufacturing, and focuses on developing “intelligent robots”, “advanced manufacturing technology and equipment” and “industrial systems and industrial big data”. The SAM is fully committed to boosting the independent innovation capability and overall strength in the manufacturing domain, cultivating top-notch talents, and serving as a scientific and intellectual basis for the rapid development of national and regional advanced manufacturing industry and the strategy of building China into a manufacturing power.
Fields and Directions
1. Majors of advanced robot technology and system: novel mechanism design of robots, technology for robot driving and transmission, technology for robot precision motion control, soft robot, etc.
2. Majors of ultra-precision machining and additive manufacturing: ultra-precision machining technology, nano-manufacturing, additive manufacturing, etc.
3. Majors of science and technology of equipment design and manufacturing: medical intelligent equipment, microelectromechanical systems, human-centric smart manufacturing, etc.
4. Majors of digitalized industrial manufacturing and industrial engineering: industrial big data, quality control and management of industrial product, etc.
5. Majors of related fields: mechanics, applied mathematics, fundamental physics, etc.
Qualifications
1. Support the leadership of the Communist Party of China and never deviate from the correct direction;
2. Good academic abilities and backgrounds;
3. Abide by laws of the State and observe rules and regulations of the University; be passionate in his or her job and possess a rigorous attitude of scholarship and decent teaching style; adhere to teacher’s ethics and pay heed to teamwork.

1. Leading Talents: The applicants should work in an important research field involving great innovation, high potential for development and key generic technology; have made prominent achievements with great innovation and impacts; have significant influence, academic status and academic standards equivalent at home and abroad, or have outstanding academic achievements in humanities and social sciences; age under 50.
2. Young and Middle-aged Outstanding Talents: The applicants should have excellent potential for scientific research and technological innovation and be occupied in a field with promising innovation look; have gained professional accomplishments and scientific research results recognized at home and abroad; specialize in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM); age under 40.
3. Young Academic Backbones: The applicants should be creative, possess prominent developmental potential, and have made high-level and innovative professional accomplishments; specialize in STEM; age under 35.

Research Fellows
1. Distinguished Research Fellows: The applicants should have postdoctoral, lecturer or assistant professor working experience in universities and research institutes of China or other countries; have made at least 3 representative results in principle (negotiable for applicants with particularly outstanding results); applicants who have headed up or participated in ministerial, provincial, or above level projects are preferred; age under 38.
2. Distinguished Associate Research Fellows: The applicants should have received strict academic training in domestic or overseas universities or research institutes and show great academic promise; have achieved a minimum of 2 representative results, but for applicants with outstanding results it can be reduced to 1; age under 38.
3. Postdoctoral Fellows: Excellent doctors from China and other countries are welcomed. The applicants should possess satisfactory academic level and research capability; have got the doctoral degrees for less than 3 years; age under 35.
